Better Late than Never

It has been a rather long time since I put a post on here so here is a quick update:

I have some new work! I have stepped away from 2D Wire drawing and took a more 3Dimentional approach with my work. I have been focusing on everyday objects found in the home and in everyday life and creating them out of wire.

Here is a selection of the work I have been creating:

I am so excited about this new direction for my work, the possibilities are endless! Everything I now see in everyday life I wonder if I could make it out of wire? My dream would be to fill a house full of wire everyday objects......watch this space......

Word Play

I have been busy getting work ready for the new exhibition at Unit Twelve Word Play. I was particularly excited to produce such a large scale piece for such a lovely gallery.

I based the piece on the childrens poem Hey Diddle Diddle combining both two dimentional and three dimentional drawings of childrens toys and pictures based on the words.

I produced a short film with the amazing help from Iain Perry of Print Garage showing the set up of this exhibition.

The Cow jumped over the Moon
The Cat and the Fiddle
Alphabet Blocks

Choo Choo Train

Little Toy Drum

Letter Detail

The Dish ran away with the Spoon

The exhibition Word Play runs til July.

Unit Twelve is open Thurs-Sat 10-4
www.unittwelve.co.uk for more details and directions.

I will also be running a wire drawing workshop on the 9th June at Unit Twelve, where participants can create their own wire drawn object or image using simple techniques. More details on the Unit Twelve website.

Tick Tock

These last few weeks I have been working on some wire clocks, using vintage tins as the face of the clock.

The numbers are made from wire with found materials behind.

This gorgeous little tin can be put on the wall or on a mantle piece/bedside table.

These are available to commission. They range in prices from £30-£60 available from me or through Unit Twelve at Tixal Heath Farm, Stafford. Please email me for more details louisedawnwilson@hotmail.co.uk

Add a bit of colour into the New Year!

Happy New Year to you all!!!

Today was the first day back in the studio after the Christmas break and i was itching to get back to start on some new develpoments i came up with over Christmas.

Me and my boyfriend visited Les Oakes in Cheadle over Christmas for some research and came away buzzing with ideas and inspiration! Here are a few pictures that truely inspired me:

There was a comlete mix of everyday objects!

And so today I used the inspiration from some of these images and experimented with the use of found materials mixed with wire (along with my new rolling mill- thanks Santa!) andcame up with something very new and exciting!!!

The colours really work well with the wire and add something different and more decorative to my work. These new ideas make me very excited, watch this space for more new developments!
